Theodora Mason

2nd GRADE TEACHER & SPACIAL DYNAMICS (MOVEMENT)

Theodora was born in an Indiana suburb of Chicago to two educators. Along with her three sisters, she attended the only K–6 Montessori school in the region. While she admired the philosophy of Maria Montessori, as a mother to three sons, she found deep resonance with the philosophy and pedagogical intelligence of Rudolf Steiner. This impulse led her to become an integral part of the Sanderling Waldorf School as it developed its grades program. Theodora developed and taught the handwork program as well as the movement program for 1st - 8th grade students. She served on many committees during her thirteen years with Sanderling, from planning festivals to serving on the care group, and most recently, many years with the pedagogical development committee. In 2020, she served as the grades admissions coordinator and movement teacher at the Portland Waldorf School, where she was also a member of the College of Teachers. Theodora has over twenty years of teaching experience, with over thirteen of them teaching children in a Waldorf school.

Theodora is a graduate of level l and an ongoing student in the level ll and lll Spacial Dynamics training program, certified in Bothmer gymnastics, a life-long yoga practitioner and a certified instructor. With twenty years involved in Waldorf education and a mother to a Waldorf graduate, she understands the vital importance of a community that supports and encourages each child’s development as a free human being.

In 2022, she moved to Texas to become the 1st Grade Teacher for Living Oaks’ inaugural year and became part of the Pedagogical Development Committee.
